Welcome to Beamish Primary School

Welcome to our wonderful school and thank you for visiting our website. My name is Mrs Telfer, and I am extremely proud to be the Executive Headteacher of the Beamish & Pelton Federation.
Beamish Primary School is located in the small village of No Place near the town of Stanley and is approximately 7 miles from the historic city of Durham. The school is a smaller than average primary school with a nursery offering 15- and 30-hour places for 2, 3 and 4-year-old pupils.

Our pupils have been running, walking and moving their way around the globe alongside the other schools in our trust, all while raising money for Cancer Research UK. 💜
Together, we're aiming to reach an incredible 25,000 miles today. That's a lot of laps, steps and determination! 👏
A huge thank you to everyone who has taken part, donated and cheered us on so far. Let's keep going and see if we can hit that milestone before the day is out! 🌟
Thank you to Chartwells for letting us borrow your bike to help us reach this goal!

School readiness can be supported through four main areas:
• Growing independence – Encouraging children to manage tasks like using cutlery, putting on their coat, and using the toilet independently.
• Building relationships and communication – Developing social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and talking about feelings.
• Physical development – Ensuring children are active for at least three hours a day, can hold a pencil, and enjoy creative activities like drawing and painting.
• Healthy routines – Encouraging good habits such as brushing teeth twice a day and limiting screen time.
Over the summer, we’ll be sharing weekly tips to help your child feel confident and excited about starting Reception.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our sporting achievements this year include:
- An intra-school archery competition
- 'Bee Netball' competition with other schools in County Durham
- The Dance Festival at the Gala Theatre
- Durham Dash (running and fielding) at Beamish Museum
- A variety of sporting after-school clubs (fencing, basketball, dodgeball, street dance...the list goes on!)
- Lunch time sports coaches delivering games in our outdoor areas
- High-quality PE lessons covering a variety of different sports
We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
